Basic Life Support & AED Level 2

Duration: 4 Hours

Heart and circulatory disease claims around 200,000 lives each year. Many could have been saved if a defibrillator was made available. Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) are now becoming more common throughout a range of public and workplaces.

A casualty’s survival rate will dramatically increase if an AED is available and if you have appropriately qualified personnel to use it.

This very practical course will enable you to use the AED competently and with confidence. Not only does this course deal with the use of an AED, but it also includes vital training in basic life support including resuscitation.

First Aid at Work Level 3

It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers provide a safe and healthy environment to work in. If your assessment of first aid needs highlights the need for qualified first aiders, then this level 3 qualification (level 6 in Scotland) will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel.

This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.

  • Legalities, responsibilities and reporting
  • Heart attacks
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Eye injuries
  • Fractures and spinal injuries

This qualification lasts for 3 years. To renew the qualification, learners will need to sit the First Aid at Work Re-Qual course. However, it is recommended that during the 3-year period, the learners attend annual refresher courses.

First Aid at Work Refresher

Immediate Management of Anaphylaxis (Level 3)

Duration: 6 Hours

Anaphylaxis is a severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that can develop rapidly. This qualification provides the knowledge and practical competence required to promptly recognise and manage a casualty with anaphylaxis until emergency medical assistance arrive.

The learner will:

  • Know how to recognise a casualty with anaphylaxis
  • Be able to manage a casualty who is breathing normally
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
  • Be able to manage a casualty with anaphylaxis

Oxygen Therapy Administration (Level 3)

£45 / person

Duration: 6 Hours

This qualification will provide the knowledge and practical competence required to administer medical oxygen to a
patient in line with current guidelines and protocols. The qualification covers how and when to administer oxygen and the safety concerns which need to be considered regarding the carrying, storage and administration of oxygen.

The learner will:

  • Know guidelines for the use of oxygen therapy
  • Be able to administer oxygen therapy

Sports/Outdoor First Aid Level 2

    The course will enable participants to undertake 12 lead ECG, understand basic waveforms and understand how these are generated by the cardiac cycle.

    Specifically designed for those seekign a career in emergency services, ambulance suervices, the event medical sector, or those that work in high-risk workplaces.

    This regulated qualification fufils the competencies set out in the Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) Skills framework.
