We are pleased to offer ADHD assessment and treatment services for patients in Cheshire & Merseyside, under NHS Contract. Unfortunately, due to financial pressures across the NHS, Cheshire & Merseyside Integrated Care Board have placed a cap on the number of assessments and medication initiation appointments providers, including Quay Healthcare, can offer for the remainder of the financial year (until 31st March 2025).
Integrated Care Boards (or ICBs) are the people who make decisions about how health services are funded locally.
What this means for you:
- We can still accept your referral, and you will remain on our waiting list.
- Unfortunately, we have reached our assessment and medication initiation capacity for this year, so waiting times will be longer than usual.
- If you have already started medication, we will continue your treatment.
- If you already have an assessment or medication initiation appointment booked, this will not be affected by these changes and you should still let us know if you are unable to attend.
- If you live outside of the Cheshire & Merseyside area, you will not be affected.
- These changes have increased our current wait time from referral to assessment to 6 years and 10 months for Cheshire & Merseyside patients. This is based on the current activity caps.
- At this stage, we do not know what our capacity will be for the next financial year (April 2026 – March 2027) and this influence the wait time.
We understand how important this appointment is for you and how difficult waiting can be. Please be assured that your referral is safe with us, and we will contact you as soon as we are able to offer an appointment. As these changes are outside of the Quay Healthcare’s control, please direct your concerns to the ICB directly. Our service will continue supporting patients with queries regarding their ADHD care through our usual channels.
