Hi!

I’m Lucy, an Assistant Psychologist working within Quay Healthcare’s Adult ADHD Service.

My job role involves assisting with the assessment of ADHD in adult individuals and providing psychoeducation and psychosocial support to those either already diagnosed with ADHD or are in the process of assessment with our team.

Prior to working at Quay, I have worked as an Assistant Psychologist in several other settings, including Urgent Crisis Care Teams, Mental Health inpatient wards, Complex Mental Health community teams, and incarcerated prison settings.

During my time working in all these varied settings, I have seen first-hand how neurodivergence can significantly negatively affect mental health. In addition, I myself have a diagnosis of ADHD and struggle with the difficulties associated.

I believe my own diagnosis of ADHD, and ability to understand neurodivergent people on a close level, with deeper empathic understanding helps to support our patients.

The ADHD Team is a team proudly filled with neurodiversity, with several members of the team having been diagnosed with neuro-diverse conditions.

I think it is vital to recognise that neurodivergence can have a significant impact on an individual’s mental health, specifically if left undiagnosed.

For World Mental Health Day, I hope we can shine a brighter light on the neurodivergent population who have previously/are currently suffering with their mental health, in hopes that we can spread further awareness and understanding on the topic and pave the way for additional services to help this population.
